How this site works
This is a reference for one square kilometre. The whole proposition is that the numbers on it are right and that you can see where each one came from.
Where the numbers come from
A census of 566 places inside the heritage core, taken on 24 August 2026. Names, categories, opening hours, coordinates, ratings and review counts come from it.
A walking-distance matrix over the same coordinates, rebuilt on 27 September 2026. Every "200 metres, about 4 minutes" on this site is a routed walk, not a straight line on a map. The difference is not small: one food court here is 90 m from the Thai Hua Museum as the crow flies and 249 m on foot, because the walk goes round a block.
The first build of that matrix was wrong, and wrong in one direction. It routed on separately-mapped pavements, and this district has 112 of those against 16 marked crossings, so a walk that should have crossed a street went round the block instead. It put a pawn shop at 77 Thalang Road 321 m from number 80, across the road. Every distance is now measured on the carriageways, which is also how the streets here are walked.
Phone calls. Where we have rung a place and been told something, the page says so and gives the date.
What "verified" means here
A verification note appears only where a specific fact was checked with the place itself. It names the date and the method.
Everything without a note is unverified, and we do not label it. Hedging every unchecked number with "reportedly" would put a caveat on almost every sentence and tell you nothing.
What we do instead: if we do not have a fact, the page says we do not have it. There are no filled-in prices on this site.
What is missing
Treatment prices for the massage cluster, which is the most-used category in the district and the one nobody publishes. Dish prices and what to order. Photographs of our own.
The Vegetarian Festival schedule is deliberately not published here yet. The dates circulating on hotel blogs disagree with each other and with the shrines' own timing, and a wrong procession time costs somebody their morning.
Money
Baht are converted at roughly ฿33 to the US dollar, once per page on first mention, marked with a tilde. The rate is reviewed quarterly. It will drift between reviews.
Telling us something is wrong
Prices change, places close, and hours posted on Google go stale. If something here is wrong, say so and we will check it and re-date the page.
