Phuket Old Town

Coffee in Phuket Old Town

Sixty-odd coffee shops, cafés and tea houses inside the square kilometre, most of them good and most of them ฿1–200 (~$0.30–6) a head. This is the cluster that makes Old Town worth more than an afternoon.

It is also the one with the most misleading hours, so the useful part of this page is the clock. Nobody publishes what a flat white costs, here or anywhere else in the district.

Nothing is open when the streets are empty

Soi Romanee is quiet before 09:00 and photographed solid by 11:00. That is the argument for an early start, and it runs straight into the coffee timetable.

Barely anything is pouring at that hour. Café Mem on Phang Nga Road and Sixory open earliest, Coffee Talk not long after, and beyond those three you are waiting until eight or half past.

  1. Sixory Coffee4.8 from 458 reviews

  3. Coffee Talk Old Phuket Town4.3 from 479 reviews

Opens 07:30 and shuts 17:30. The weakest of the early three, and still open when the rest of the street is not.

    07:30–17:30 daily · 429 m from Thalang Road

And a lot of it is shut by six

Most of the cluster closes at 18:00, and a good share of it at 17:30. Coffee here is a daytime scene, and if you planned an evening working through flat whites the district will hand you a bar instead.

The exceptions are worth knowing by name: Craftist on Bangkok Road, Café Mem on Phang Nga, and BAAN 125 for a V60 at ten at night.

Working from them

The guides describe Old Town as a laptop district. The reviews do not.

Three places in the district carry any review tag mentioning quiet, air conditioning or working: Momentary Coffee, GANO KAFAE and Pink Flamingo. What people write about instead is the room and the pancakes.

Bookhemian closed in 2025. It is the café every remote-work guide to Phuket names, at 61 Thalang Road, and it is gone. Several guides still list its opening hours, and the ones that do carry the closure date it to August 2026, a year late. What was in there, and photographs from 2018.

No review tag is not proof there is no wifi. It does mean almost nobody came here to work and thought it worth mentioning.

The animal cafés

Two of them, and both rate below everything else in this cluster.
